WHAT IS A V-STEAM?
Vaginal Steaming (V-Steam) is the process of adding specific herbs to boiling water and positioning your pelvic area over the steam to absorb the therapeutic oils as they are released from the herbs. The vapours deliver the oils directly into the bloodstream which are accessible through the vulva & tissues. This beneficial whether or not, you possess a uterus.
V-Steaming has been around for centuries, and more recently it has been shown to greatly support feminine health & provide holistic management for a wide variety of feminine imbalances.

CAN I STEAM IF I HAVE AN IUD?
Because an IUD is an intrauterine device, there is always the chance that the IUD could shift or dislodge. Women have reported good success steaming with a copper IUD. We do not encourage steaming with a plastic or metal IUD. However, Her Village recommends that individuals be mindful of their own body and symptoms. Steaming can be very helpful for issues that present with IUD use and should you decide to try steaming with an IUD, steams need to be short and carefully monitored. **If your IUD is in place as an attempt to alleviate menstrual symptoms, note that steaming alone can resolve these issues and eliminate the need for an IUD.
CAN STEAMING HELP WITH CRAMPS?
Cramping is a symptom of an incomplete shedding of the uterine lining. The action of steam is to soften, loosen, and release build up and adhesions. Typical results show an immediate lessening of cramping after just one steam session. Over time, steaming will help you achieve an ideal monthly experience with little or no discomfort or symptoms.
CAN STEAMING HELP WITH IRREGULAR CYCLES?
Absolutely. Often in less than three months you will see improvements.
CAN STEAMING HELP WITH REOCCURRING INFECTIONS (Yeast, BV, or Uti's)
Yes! Steaming will help naturally re-balance the flora. In fact, if you suffer from recurrent infections, a regular steaming program is an excellent preventative practice. When you get the tell tale symptoms of, or beginning signs of infection, steaming immediately may prevent that infection from taking hold.
CAN STEAMING HELP WITH FIBROIDS?
Through the lens of Easterner medicine, Fibroids are seen as a build up of mucous adhering to the uterine wall. Steaming may gently release and liquefy this adhesion allowing the uterus to shed the fibroid naturally. Steam is a wonderful agent for softening, loosening & cleaning and does wonders to the uterine environment.
CAN STEAMING HELP WITH ENDOMETRIOSIS?
In Eastern medicine, Endometriosis is a build up of unshed uterine lining which often begins to grow outside of the uterus causing extreme discomfort & debilitating pain, as well as fertility issues. Steaming is a wonderful healing agent for this condition. The steam may gently loosen and soften the build up supporting the uterus to shed properly each month. Also brings relief, to the many symptoms associated with this condition. Steaming may reduce cramping & eventually can help women suffering from this condition to experience monthly cycles that no longer prevent them from living their daily lives.
I HAVE HAD A PARTIAL OR FULL HYSTERECTOMY, CAN STEAMING BENEFIT ME?
Absolutely, Post hysterectomy the pelvic floor can struggle to hold its integrity. Steaming will create a natural lift and bring integrity back to the perineum and the pelvic floor. This increased strength will also help the bladder to regain it’s integrity, preventing leaks and increasing the volume of urine that can be held comfortably.
